SKY Signs U.S. Deal
By KAREN BLISS -- Jam! Music
Record business legend Clive Davis, the
president and CEO of Arista Records, has
signed Montreal R&B-based pop duo Sky
for the U.S., U.K. and Japan.
The deal, signed late Tuesday afternoon,
will see the band's currently top-10
Canadian retail album, Piece Of Paradise,
rereleased with one additional song, most
likely in May.
"Sky will go far," Davis said in a written
statement. "They represent the best of
today's edgy pop music. Their songs are
great, their music is tight, and they're
charismatic. We're very excited to
represent them in the United States, the
United Kingdom and Japan."
In Canada, the songwriting pop duo of
James and Antoine (they don't go by
surnames) was signed directly to EMI
Music Canada a year ago and is enjoying
immediate chart success since the album's
release Feb. 2.
